what?you mean try to get the system operating efficiently?try to get it to do what it was supposed to originally?next thing you know it will flag up the ones we test that expired 12 months ago and are still in daily use(judging by the road tax)and could even be used to flag up the ones that we fail as dangerous.dont be so bloody ridiculous, this would all be a major help to,and improvement in,road safety/law enforcement and as such has absolutely nothing to do with the mot or indeed vosa.....

There was no official instruction to remove or collect the stamps, sounds like the VE was making this up as he went along.

on computerisation a fair few test stations had their embossing stamps removed,we refused pointing out that embossing defect rectification forms without it could prove challenging.ministry mans response?oh yeah,we hadnt thought of that!some police stations are now accepting rubber stamps as a result-dont suppose fraud could be a possibility do you?

A VE recently threw away an AE's MoT Testing Guide 5th edition (as the 6th is now in force.)  Thing is all the Special Notices were contained in that A4 guide format, so who do you think will carry the can when a VE does an audit in the future?!

Before allowing the the old guide to be binned, I'd advise just throwing the guide pages out and leaving the SNs where they are for now.
