Hi,

I have a 22 year-old car with an MOT due. I also have a free MOT as a benefit of my car insurance with Kwik-Fit.

From past experience, mainstream testing stations (ie Kwik-Fit and the like) tend to be fairly picky compared to a trusted local garage used to dealing with older cars (usual things like bushes, mountings and the like, where a local garage is more likely to consider the age of the vehicle in the test but mainstream are more likely to compare with new). I have a trusted local garage, but would like to get the free MOT.

If I take it to Kwik-Fit and it passes, no problem. However, if it fails unreasonably and I take it to my local, what happens if in his opinion it shouldn't have failed on those things - can he just pass it?

Sorry for the essay, and hope this all makes sense!

Thanks, David
