The original test was paid for, the retest wasn't.

Had my car tested recently and it failed on the rear brakes. I replaced one of the brake cylinders as it had ceased. Once the cylinder was replaced the brakes felt fine so I took it back for the retest Monday (5 working days later). Due to problems with the testing stations ramps the car was only tested today, where it failed again on the rear brakes. It seems the other cylinder has now also failed. The guy at the station agreed to wave the retest fee on the understanding I brought the car back by this Friday to have another full test.

Where do I stand if I decide to have the car retested elsewhere? Would the original station send me an invoice by post or would I not be accountable for the fee?

Hi,

Yes.It clearly states in the manual that we are able to request a payment "up front", so you will be accountable for your original test, because it was carried out.;)

"Best Practice" If one wheel cylinder has failed, then the other one is not too far behind.;)

ps; repair the vehicle, and take the buscuit!..........;)

wes.

adampv...You can't have the car "Retested elsewhere"...It would be a FULL MOT test from fresh if presented at another VTS...So to be honest You need to repair and either take it back OR book somewhere else....:(...TBH if the garage "waived" a retest fee he possibly did you a favour....Cant comment on the behaviour you received though obviously....;)

If I'm honest the way the guy talked to me really annoyed me, to the point where I'd rather not have to deal with him again, let alone give him any more of my money.

Unfortunately the MOT station is only a mere 1/4 mile from where I live.

I don't know how you think we could possibly answer that question it's between you and the vts concerned. But I dought very much they would follow it up. Why don't you take it back like you arranged?
