Not too happy about it myself - still I've got crime number and had a letter telling me about the support I can get as a "victim of crime" - so that'll be all right then...

No you are ok with that as long as the rearview mirrors provide an adequate view.

Morning all!
I'd be grateful for some experienced and accurate guidance please:
I've just had the rear window of a 1989 VW Passat estate shot out. Replacement cost is more than twice the value of the vehicle and I haven't yet tracked down a breaker with a complete tailgate.
My proposal is to replace the glass with plywood but it has been suggested that this will not pass the imminent Test as it would be like a 100% "tint" and rear visibility would be zero.
I have three mirrors - one internal and an external one on each side.
Even if this is not a reason for MOT failure - would I be contravening any construction and use regulations?
