that could be as simple as adjusting the shoes and handbrake cable or maybe replacing them, but no huge expence there. follow this link and put in reg of your car and you can price up the parts in your list then add the labour of the garage you are going to and you will have some idea of the cost. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/Car-Parts

cant see your list of faults costing anywhere near £700. your list says handbrake, what is the wording on the VT30.

You have not said what make and model your car is. If your having new brake discs then you should be fitting a new set of pads at the same time. What was the fail on the CV joint? gaiter split, insecure?
It is hard to say if these items should have been picked up on the service without knowing the milage since the service
It's an 01 Corsa.
I'm assuming I'm getting pads too but I'll check tomorrow.
The CV2 was a split.
It'd done about 5500 miles since the last MOT. So about half that since the last service I guess.

Failed MOT today on:
Coil Spring
Handbrake
Brake Disks
CV Joint
Tyre wear on inside
Ugh. They haven't told me how much all this will cost but I'm guessing at a ballpark figure of about £700, what d'you think?
I'm also concerned that I paid for a service (at a different garage) about 6 months ago and that went through without picking any of these up. Grr. ahh well - what can you do?Last edited on Thu Apr 15th, 2010 04:34 pm by neato
