Not too hard to find kit - it's (nearly) all in the old grey matter.  ;)

The MOT Inspection Manual section 1.1 - Information column.........

On vehicles fitted with dim-dip headlamp systems, the front position lamps must be checked for operation with the ignition switched off. This may involve the operation of a separate switch.

Hi spads,

Stealth is a very wise & advisor on all matters regarding testing & regs, i think that you are talkng about what is known as "dim dip" headlamps that are designed to operate with the sidelights, with the engine running or ignition on, so both sidelights must work with the engine/ignition off. I belive, and will no dout be corrected, that  all lights should be checked with engine running, as ther is no requirment for parking lights.

Hope that is correct and easy to undersand

Hi sapads

Welcome to the forum.

Do the sidelights work with the ignition switched off - if so then it's a pass.

I have a Triumph Herald which when I switch the side lights on it automatically switches on the head lights.  Will this fail the MOT?
