if theres only you and him testing and he aint there most of the time why would you not put it on the ramp?how would he know?and why do it?if he got caught because of your actions then he is in deep do do(i assume hes the ae)think there is some background here regarding other staff conflicts that we aint hearing...how can you even ask a question of this nature on this site?do you deny that your actions could cost him a lot and given this why whinge?when testing cars in which you have a personal interest they(should!)be tested to the most stringent standards.you had to read and understand all this just to get your ticket to test in the first place,if some workmate has dobbed you in for doing a bulls**t retest then i for one cant blame him,its his neck your sticking out as well.

Agreed , although it seems unfair , not retesting on the ramp/bay, would be enough to land your boss(the AE), in a lot of trouble.
I doubt he has told VOSA , so if I were you I wouldn't tell them, just apply somewhere else , and hopefully get something quick.

| You've not been there long enough for any unfair dismisal claim im afraid mate. though by not retesting properly its probably gross mis-conduct anyway.

ok, here goes.
i was dismissed between christmas and new year for gross misconduct. i tested my cousin's car, which failed on various items. she asked me to repair the car so i did, and retested the car, job done. the owner of the garage is accusing me of not repairing the car and the car not being in the testing station for retest. the car WAS repaired and WAS there, onsite on the day of retest but the mistake i made was i never put the car on the ramp to carry out the retest. i've only worked there for 3.5 months and i think he was looking for an excuse to get rid of me because the garage was not busy/making money.
what i would like to know is;
should i have been disiplined or dismissed??
should i contact vosa and explain the situation??
there was only me and the owner that were testers and he was hardly there because he has other business interests elsewhere so i was the only tester at the time the car was tested. i've been to the citizen's advice bureau and they've told me to take my dismissal letter (when i get it!!) to a solicitor for legal advice.
any help would be appreciated.
cheers,
les
