Nice one mate.
Shame how the garage that caused the problem gets away scot free even though they clearly misinformed the owner.
Yet you as the actual tester is put through the ringer because of their scare mongering
always the way , quite often caused by some ill informed tyre fitter that sees ropey ( but passable ) brake discs & then proceeds to tell the customer that they are positively dangerous & the car should never have passed a test .

Good news on the appeal
Just shows to us all how valuable the advise notice is, as bob said, there but for the grace.......

attended and was saved by couple of advisories for the front rails on a corsa they were rough when tested and advised as were solid but looked horrid outer skins starting to rot crack but still holding
but presenter(complaining %$%$) wasnt happy as a garage he took car too was saying they dangerous and should be welded and how did the car pass like that and couple of minor bits but in all a result for me
Must admit dont like the worry and feeling that waiting for these things does makes you start wondering did you miss something or do something wrong Last edited on Sat Jan 21st, 2012 06:04 pm by newbody

from memory they dont tell you what the vehicle is in advance, makes it kinda tough to tell what documentation to take with you cos the appeal is normally miles away so popping back to get it once you find out aint normally viable.its probably someone thats bought an old spunker and are upset that it aint in as new condition.as long as you passed/advised all the obvious stuff you should be fine.good luck with it.there but for the grace of god go us all....

Hi Newbody,
Welcome to the forum
If the appeal against you is mechanical in nature, then the appeal must be logged with VOSA within 28 days of the test taking place, if on the other hand it is corrosion related, then within 3 months
If you are not familiar with the Testing Guide and manuals, my advice is to take a consultant with you and any documentation you issued at time of the test, i.e. copy of test certifiicate showing any advisory items, and any original documentation you might of used to write your notes on during the test, as you might of made an administration error and not noted something on the pass certificate at time of issue!
We are all human at the end of the day and mistakes can and do get made by us all, including VE's

Edited to advise, if you did get the short straw and loose the appeal, which ended in short term cessation, then if I remember correctly you will have to resit the whole course and not be able to rely on your past NTTA assessment.

been on here reading posts for a while now time for my first post
i have an inverted appeal (appeal against a pass) on friday dont know the vehicle or for what reason now the test was origionally conducted over 30 days ago on this vehicle so that leads me to believe that the appeal is on the grounds of corrosion as that is the only thing that i believe can be upheld at this point in time
now i am probably getting myself worked up for nothing but i have been testing for just over 4 years and had to gain admitance to the scheme through the ntta so am at little concerned as from how i read the disciplinary charts if i gain more than 50 points for the retest i am in the areas of 28 days cessation
now if i do get a cessation do i need to resit the NTTA to reenter the scheme
what is my best course of action on friday my AE has told me we are attending the re-inspection on friday do i keep shut if they find anything and ask me to comment or do i get one of these mot consultants to come with me
sorry to be vauge but dont know alot about it myself
EDIT::: also i am sad and attended a voluntry refresher in april last year how would the credit points for this work if any are to be gained Last edited on Wed Jan 18th, 2012 08:59 pm by newbody
