VOSA would consider you to be new to the scheme and will monitor you for some time. I know this because when I joined the scheme they did their six monthly checks on me the same. Before i moved to my present station once they started to trust me they stopped their annual visits and to the best of my knowledge they stopped their incogs also.

I have been in my present mot station for three years and have seen VOSA once. If they do incogs on you do you still get credit points for satisfactory testing, if you do i have had no incogs for the last five years as i know.

Does this mean we won't get anymore 6 monthly visits or mystery shoppers ?

Do you get a six monthly visit from VOSA?

How do you know if you get a mystery shopper?

I have received the special notice (Red envelope), not yet read it.
Yes I get six monthly visits, I am waiting for my mystery shopper, as I am an old adversary of VOSA through my trucking business I can smell them at 50 paces so it is unlikely they will get a mystery shopper past me unnoticed and thanks to you lot I am well armed with all the usual faults they prepare on the vehicle. Don't know why I get six monthly visits they won't tell me nor can I find out if I am out of the amber zone yet, my last visit didn't have any problems.

How long have you been testing, the reason I ask is because when I first started they used to give me six monthly visits and I was blessed with incognitos, eventually they leave you alone when the penny drops and they realise you are doing a good job.

As i posted before on here...I do not take much notice of these figures...Does'nt matter how long, what you fail it on,how many times you registered the wrong car, used the spare card or as it seems now how old the  average vehicle you test is???.....As long as the  vehicle is tested correctly and the correct outcome of the test is determined....  Why bother??...So you get a tester who  takes  an average of  1hour  to test, the  man from Vosa wishes him to do them in 51mins,how do you SAFELY increase your  test time???...  BY cutting corners...:?

Just printed off the special notice, six pages, yes didn't need to but more relaxed away from noisy environment. Not fully understood it yet, but it appears that the performance report is better itemised, this means that they, that's VOSA can see at an instant how long a test takes on say a Monday morning, and then how long maybe the same age and model of vehicle would take on a Friday afternoon?

The report also looks as though they can see how long each retest has taken, so if a tester skimps on checking the advisories, this would show up as a retest being completed too quickly, as example. The report will also show up areas that a tester may not be failing vehicles on, so the performance report will show (000) where the national average may show something entiry different where other testers maybe failing or mentioning something your not, so there may be trends that VOSA will look at from the reports which show information, which testers may not readily understand, but VOSA could then use to target weakness in any individual tester?

I don't think it is about time from VOSA's point, but maybe what is or is not being tested at each station around the country, after all, we are all suppose to check every testable item within the manual and or on computerisation?
