Hmmmm - I know a tester with an SP1 - keeps promising to get it out - but then only manages about 500 miles between MOT's ??? Last edited on Tue Mar 17th, 2009 07:47 pm by Stealth

TUT,TUT,TUT. You should know better.
This was of course merely an example of the machine's capabilities, and in no way condones nor advocates a failure to observe the rules of the highway.

Had my first proper ride out of the year today - I remember why it's important to have mirrors - especially with a bike that does 85 mph......................................
in first gear

I like to know what's behind me too when out on my bike.
That's why I use my mirrors, but mainly I turn around to see what's going on. Call me old fashioned but if your mirror is clear it doesn't mean there's nothing behind you!
Kev
PS. This is not a critisism its merely an observation.

As far as I know they are not a legal requirement either.
I always look behind me anyway as you cant see much through a bike mirror.
I suppose then that "Mirror, Signal and maneouvre" are out of the question to pass your bike test?
Its "Look Signal Maneoevre" on the bike test. Smart***e

It's a personal view but I feel that on bikes, it is not always neccessary, and that in most cases looking behind is enough.
As you don't need mirrors for an MOT can the Police challenge you about it if they stop you?
Thanks for your prompt answer by the way

How else would you see behind? If you mean for the MOT test then no.

| Do you have to have motorcycle mirrors fitted on a newish road bike please, and if so do they have to be a certain size?. I keep hearing different answers to this question. Thanks
