from memory I think that panel comes as a box section including tie bar/subframe mount points spotwelded to the wings under the headlamps, aint 5 minutes even if the areas you are welding to are still sound.good luck with it

Yes I think you might be right. They are so small that there's not much that isn't within 30cm of a prescribed area. Looks like a new panel then.

if its the spot I think it is the front subframe teardrop/tiebar mounts are within 30 cm which would make it a prescribed area,a fail, aint many areas on an old mini that are ouside of of testing areas to be honest, check with a local garage.the prescribed areas are mainly within 30cm of steering/braking/seatbelt/suspension mounts

Hi. I have an original mini and it's starting to rust under the headlight where the lower front panel meets the wing. It's one of the many common spots. The wheel throws muck up inside which sticks to the welder seam between the two panels inside the arch.

I think the testing stick would push through given a modest amount of effort.

Would this fail? And if so would a patch welded on top be sufficient for a pass (even though it wouldn't look the best)

Thanks all.

Jim
