not enough information on vt40 just ring vosa helpline  lots of options but got through in the end

rang vosa helpline they were very helpful gave me instuctions on how to do brake test :D service brake = deceleromiter  parking brake epb = rbt

You can use the VTS device to look up VSI without logging a test - just use the 'Messages, VSI and Reports' function.
