could be anything major or minor.many renaults(yes i know it has a volvo badge)have steering play as standard,could be wear or normal play dependant on mileage,may only be last tester covering themself.if your that worried why not get it checked?

If they were advisory last year and you've done a few miles they will probably need replacing by now.![]()

Looks like you will need, or soon need, two front steering arms, quite common for Volvos of that era. Properly worded a fail for this item reads 'offside steering arm has relative movement at it's fixing'. There is no advisory for this item that us testers can click on so he's used a different section to get the same point across. I manualy type it in Anyho the steering arms connect the steering rack to the road wheel at the track rod end. They are quite cheap compared to a complete steering rack so dont get forced into buying one. Takes about half hour a side and will need tracking to be re aligned afterwards

Last year my H Reg Volvo 940 got an advisory issued Nearside steering system has slight free play detected at steering wheel [2.2.A.1b] Offside steering system has slight free play detected at steering wheel [2.2.A.1b] Therefore would this be a fail this year? Also what does this point too? Steering Rack? Steering column?
