funny enough a few years back pre comp i had to issue  a replacement for the brother in laws motor due to me putting down wrong reg and post office refusing tax.we all make mistakes, fair enough.the following year i did the same again!it was at this point i noticed that 2 letters on the front reg plate were the wrong way round, apparently an accident repair where the firm replaced the front plate and got the lettering wrong.it had been on there 5 yrs at that point....to this day i compare every digit of the front and rear plates looking for discrepancies.sometimes its just dumb bad luck.

I put the rear number in first, when the VTS device didnt recognise the combination of Vin and Reg. I went to recheck them, thats when I found the front platee was different to the rear.

Nothing you can do Kev - you tested as presented although you might want to make a note on your checklist (if you keep em) - just in case of any come-backs.

It won't go anywhere with VOSA - although you could make plod aware as bimer said.

;)

I once failed a range rover vogue for illegal spacing on both number plates .
a couple of days later it turned up for retest with the correct number plaes quite clearly stuck over the top of the illegal ones , I advised it on the VT32 & also took a picture on my phone .
CYA at all times ;)

you could report it to the police as you witnessed a criminal act and possibly end up in court to give evidence or you could as some people would do, turn a blind eye to it so as not to get involved.

Tested a five series on Friday with a deliberate alteration on the rear plate.

was "OBN"   but should have been  "DBN"

I asked the presenter if he was aware of this, he said he was and it was to "fool the speed cameras" adding he had had the plate made specially and was a pilot so needed his licence to get to work.  (dont we all?)

I of course failed the car and made a note of the incorrect number on the VT30.

Car duly arrived yesterday for retest with the correct rear plate fitted.

I retested and passed it.

The presenter then parked outside and refitted the inncorrect plate.

What do I do?
