If the 'old' system was in place whereby major item failures resulted in a FULL RETEST, would you have found / failed this inadequate repair even though your other tested missed it... ?

What was the inadequate repair ?
 - a plate held on with silicon
 - a plate rivetted on
 - poorly welded
 - thin guage metal ?

What was the outcome of the appeal with regard to the other tester ?

It was a incomplete seam weld. About 10mm gap on a 30 cm plate.

I dont get any points as I had no reason to look at the chassis for the re-test.

Don't know what the details are or even what vehicle it is as VOSA won't say.

All I know is that it is a partial retest I carried out , my colleague (the AE) carried out the initial test,

I asked the VOSA rep what happens if the vehicle fails the test tommorow on an Item that I did not retest, i.e. an item possibly overlooked by my colleague, He said I would face the consequences as I signed the Cert.

One to bear in mind under the new re-test rules. Will know the outcome  Friday lunchtime!!!!

I conducted an appeal under similar circumstances for one of my clients a few months back.

If the item is NOT an Item that you retested then any disciplinary points will be issued to the origianal tester and AE.

VOSA rep is wrong!  You can only be criticised for anything that you missed when checking the repaired items.

If the AE/NT missed something then only he will be taken to task.
