Can you say:

1. If your system went down or not.

2. If it did, did your VTS go into stand alone?

3. How long did it take to go into stand alone?

4. You location, even if your system didnt fail !

Thanks

Feel free to add other info too.

Kev

system has been playing up for the last three days.:(

1. Today 08/09/2011

logged on to vehicle @ 10.0?, carried out inspection and went to log off @ 10.5? no joy, re-tried afew times still no joy. tried the helpdesk "busy", then options then eventually got through to hear the "dreaded" ET recorded message.

2.

an hour had passed by now 11.53, so tried to log off again, finally managed to log off in "stand alone" mode.

3.

took an early lunch to allow the system to recover, 13.00 test was logged in and the result was recorded in "stand alone" mode. 14.00 test was a bit slow but back to "normal service", a little sluggish for the rest of the afternoon although working.;)

4. SW

ps;

The recorded message said, "a fatal incident" had occured. WTF?:? Is there no backup for us? can we not "liberate" a little from GCHQ??:D

Section N in the testing guide is where its at:)

ps; "bi",  which specific SN are You referring to?:?

The SN I have is SN 5/2007.

We had a problem with our phone line, apparently the AE's fault, he changed the service provider and did not advise them of the specifications the line required for MOT Computurisation.

Our system malfunctioned and an onscreen message went into SAT Mode, like many NT's I just followed the onscreen instructions for the first day of testing, then the second day the computer SAT Mode advised that a CODE was required, so I advised my AE and he came to me a little while later and said that I should not have used SAT MODE, and that I should contact Siemens and use FALLBACK Testing, my AE also said that VOSA would be contacting me because I had used Computerisation incorrectly, which is why I said what I said previously.

I have searched through my special notices and can't find to date any further instructions via a later SN that advises anything contrary to what Kevg has said in his thread.

It looks like my AE is full of wind and can't be trusted:X

Sorry if I originally put the wrong idea across, you just can't trust people:(

No fall back testing required, (apparently its a common mistake to use fallback).

Kev

I did a bit of 'looking up in the manual' regards stand alone testing .

The stand alone testing function is only available for 4 hours, after that if VTS's are still experiencing problems they should contact Siemens and ask for an extension.

In this circumstance Siemens will issue an 'authorisation' number which allows the VTS to conduct further stand alone testing.

This would be the 'authorisation' code that Wesley was referring to in his earlier post.

;)

Bright Ideas

Fallback testing is used when there is a fault with the VTS device and where this fault only affect one individual VTS.

Stand alone was devised as a sort of intermediate solution short of the declaration of Emergency Testing, as I would imagine that there will be some sort of penalty clause built into the Siemens/VOSA contract where Emergency Testing has to be invoked.

;)

Our vts went into SAT at about 12.00 I reg a car as did the outher tester. The car I did fail on tyres the outher passed.

Went for lunch, then a small repair, then at about 14.00 all was ok.

At 17.10 the car I failed rtn for re test , but as the device hadn't sent the info to it's master, after waiting for an age on the phone I issued an ETC.

Ah well

@ 13.50, I turned off the VTS Device, @ 13.55 I re-booted the same and tried "startup", No "start"= No SAT. so I rang the Helpdesk voice gave three 00** codes and advised they were being dealt with.

14.15 I tried again, gave me a different 0060 code, and some window requesting an authorisation code? bypassed, (on screen option to continue), "register vehicle" screen appears enter details reg vin etc; F2, No Joy!

After afew attempts, Finally Logged Vehicle on to MOT Comp Live @ about 14.30   "Oh Lucky Me"

4/ North West (near you Kev)

P.S. SAT Mode is not supposed to be used when the system fails, check your SN's.

You are supposed to ring Siemens and use FallBack Testing

BI:D

We know what to do thanks.BI. We want to know what happened.  Check your own S/Ns  (Why do you always have to try and get one up?!)

4. Oxfordshire

When it came back on device said recovering from stand alone testing. Helpdesk wouldn't take call and eventually got message to use ET.

Happy days, then a customers car ran out of fuel on the A34 while we were taking it back... Don't like Mondays.
