Hi

Thanks for that observation - that to me says there are some drivers that are either no longer loaded in Systemsoft or within the OS.

I will speak to your guy and see what he says - many thanks fo rall your help.

Hi

Ok - I give up!

I had a good look around the directory structure and can see no evidence of interface settings/setup other than within the main program.

The only interface options I have are shown below.

I did find a box with all the manuals and DVDs etc, but there is no MTM manual...which is weird, and just my luck!

If you can ask your contact if he has any ideas, it would be very much appreciated!

Hi Mark

That is a very kind offer!

I will not be in until lunchtime, so I will post an update after a wee play in the morning.

I dont want to waste your or your contacts time, so if you can wait until I get back online, that would be best really.

Thanks again.

David

Hi

Thanks for confirming the LED.

I will swap the USB cable tomorrow - dont have a spare one here.

The device is in device manager, so its recognised by the PC, so doubt if its the cable... I suspect there will be a setting in the software that determines the ports shown as options... its old (looking!) software so suspect there will be an INI file somewhere.... and a driver to go with it.

I am just so suspicious re the fact it stopped working after the damn thing was calibrated - and when i was told its £2k to get it fixed.... you can imagine the reaction...

There is just so little information around the web about this kit - wish I had a support contract with Bosch and could use their online ticket system and knowledgebase!

the led light flashes on ours too.
there is no option for USB in either rtm or gam boxes..did you try swapping the usb lead to another port as it will just autodetect it and should self install.
good luck ;)

Hi

Ok... strange one...but USB is not an option in the interface box!

Weird!

There is com 1-4 and MUX....

I guess there must be a driver missing or perhaps a setting in an INI file that allows the interface to appear.

I will go have a root around!

Does your green LED sit "on" or does it flash like mine?

Last question... in the interface drop down box for RTM or GAM, does it offer USB as an option there too? (just checking as mine does not show USB).

Many thanks for your time.

HI

Thanks for that reply -  I will give it a go now.

Question to myself...why did I not think of trying USB?!?!?

Hi

Yes, its the bar with the leads..

The green led flashes... so its getting power.

I cannot remember if it always flashed...funny how you only notice things when they break!!!

The cable etc is ok, as the hid device appears when you plug in...

Thanks again

yep..will have a look in the morning and post it on as soon as i boot it up. ;)
just had a second thought as my brain is all scribble scrabble at the mo.lol...the mtm device is the boom which holds the speed/temp device yes??..is the green led underneath lit up as our powerpack gave up last year and gave comms faults..also try another usb port as we are starting to have trouble with one on ours and it kept coming up with the firmware update bar which looks the same as the one when you update the diagnostic KTS interface.

Hi

I just typed a verbose reply and then it told me the reply was too big- AGH!!!

I will try again!

The machine works 100% fine other than the MTM.

The MTM-extended (checked and it is an extended - the label says part number 1 687 022 951) was on a com port that did not exist, hence it kept moaning about it.

If you dont mind checking what your device confiig screen shows that would be great.

If you have a look in device manager too - and unplug/plug in the MTM (just pull the usb from its underside), do you get any com port devices or just the HID device like I do?

I have just set the interface to none for now to stop it complaining about it.

Thanks for the help, this is VERY much appreciated.

hi david..
we use the same machine so i will have a look tomorrow and post the settings of our machine to see if youres is the same..usually reconnecting the connector and rebooting the pc sorts things out unless something has been modified/removed in the bosch esa program.
can you go into a test routine as though you were registering a vehicle for test?
does the program respond to an opacity calibration?
does the petrol BET test work ok as the smoke head runs through the petrol gas bench connector to the pc?

Guys

I hope someone can help and point me in the right direction.

Since having the gas analyser calibrated, the MTM (extended) on our BEA850 is no longer reponding.

I really think the guy doing the calibration does not have a clue as he went on about dry joints on the usb connector, which is crap, as the MTM has never been disturbed and always worked until he played with it.

Anyway - looking at the interfaces configuration page, the MTM interface was set to a non-existant com port!

The part number of the unit is 1 687 022 951 and from a search around, it appears to be an MTM-Extended, which is the device type selected, but when you unplug it from the PC and connect it again, the only device that gets added is a HID device - certainly not a COM port.

If anyone knows what MTM interface to select for this, or has a BEA850 and could have a look, I would really appreciate it, as no COM port is applicable being a HID device.

Thanks in advance.

David
