Hi Meekoblue & welcome to the forum. Fair points from Rob, but without doubt one of the two, or possibly both test results are wrong. I would strongly advise you submit a complaint form to DVSA asap & let them sort it out. You can download the complaint form from the Gov.UK website. Search for Complain about an MOT

not without seeing it sadly, damaged struts is a new one on me,theyre basically the cavalier/Vectra running gear so the two main possibilities are strut rotted thru at the spring platforms in which case the first guy may have missed it or play in the top mounts with the suspension hanging which used to be pretty normal and not normally a problem.the tyre problem you don't state but as a for instance you may have a split or similar showing in one spot of the tyre wall with the weight of the vehicle on it so could look fine in one position and fail in another, headlamp dim could be an insecure bulb that's dropped out as you hit a bump in the road, your advises are purely at the discretion of the testers concerned and can vary wildly.this would be a difficult one for any one to call without seeing it,hope the above information is of help.

I'm confused! 2 tests at different garages 3 weeks (200miles) apart and different failures and advisories! I've a 99 Saab 9-3 with 150k miles on the clock and running well. Loved and looked after. Initially it failed at my local garage due to welding, ball joint boot and poor handbrake holding. I changed back brakes discs and shoes and had some work carried out at a Saab indy who adjusted the shoes and changed the boot. They then had it MOT'd again and now fails on macpherson struts (both damaged) a tyre and headlamp dim! Also new advisories including fuel filler pipe clip missing! I honestly now don't know who to believe or where to go next. Any thoughts? Last edited on Sat Feb 27th, 2016 08:20 am by Meekoblue |
