Make sure you tell the tester where it is or you will get a refusal to test, saying the bonnet cannot be opened

As long as it can be opened and is secured when closed it's a pass.

    Hi,

Bonnet release cable snapped  (Punto 2004)

I have patched it up with a bit of strong nylon cord, with a nut and a knot on the end.

I passed the string out from under the bonnet, it tucks away neatly between the bumper trim and the headlamps it runs under the headlamps totally invisible to the casual onlooker round to the side of the car. and then I passed the end into a hole at the back of the headlamp/bumper... so about 10 inches of the string then goes into this hole and out of sight.

The string stays there during driving, no problem.

When the string is pulled the bonnet releases.

The car will probably be scrapped before the next MOT,,, but  just out of interest

PASS or FAIL ?

Thanks
