bone up on trikes and quads tyre depths,thats the one that I got wrong!keep in mind that there will be some on last years subjects as well.write stuff like this down as part of your cpd if self certifying,quote the site/post/date etc,it all counts

if all else fails tell him to do some pretty basic math,he had to let you do a refresher every 5yrs yes?he had to pay you the two days it took yes?at lets say 80 quid a day that would probably pay 5 yrs exams,if you actually conduct(and get paid for)any kinda test on the 2 days that you would have been on the refresher in the first place then hes quids in anyway.

I could see a bosses point if you were self employed/casual whatever but the bottom line is that we have to do this to retain our ticket,we didn't ask for it,by and large we don't want it but its there in the same way he had to let you go to refreshers etc.he either wants you to keep testing or he don't and as your employer its his responsibility in the same way he has to pay calibrations,protective equipment or any other sort of training for that matter.if this upsets him he could always complain to dvsa.sometimes its better to be an employee than self employed and this is one of em.

all I can say is our boss paid for ours perhaps due to me telling him that I was perfectly happy to not be testing anymore when he mooted the idea of us paying it ourselves.....
