he says its a side marker and i cant see which lamp he means so ive gotta take his word,some have lamps on the side and to the rear and non statutory lamps aint part of the test tho in what you describe plod could pull you even if we cant

It's at the rear but it's a side marker? It's a white light showing to the rear - I thought they were illegal except while reversing? I've failed an MOT on having a proper side marker light not working.

we dont test side markers just front + rear lamps on most cars so it shouldnt be an issue assuming its a seperate lamp

Hi castrolrob Sorry if I was a bit vague, but its the 4 led's on the side acting as a marker that don't work .I have been informed side markers are not a legal requirement in the UK,I have searched various government sites and can't any legislation to say they are. Regards

the mot regs say that 50% or more light sources from a given lamp need to work to pass,your photo is unclear as to how many work,how many dont or even what lamp we are talking about,its rear but i couldnt tell you which rear be it indicator,stop,side,fog,reverse whatever.little more of a clue perhaps?
