summat else to keep in mind, the guy testing it will in all probability have the key in the ignition with the engine running and HE WILL BE OUT SIDE THE CAR!!!WARN HIM!!!cos if the windows are up and the keys are in it and the door locks have issues and it locks itself and thats probably your only fob.....

fine, didn't mean it wasn't normal, just interested to know if you could get out of the motor without using the key fob.

:)

yes - when car hits 5mph the central locking is activated but according to the manual this is normal. I also think this is normal.

I can also activate full central locking with a button on the dash if i haven't yet begun to move. In both cases I can still open the door from the inside and when the engine is switched off the central locking is also deactivated. (I think from memory)

correct.. A door will not open using the relevant control relates to the release handles. we don't test if the key locks or unlocks a door.

aside from an mot test does your central locking activate/lock the doors when you get to say 5pmh cause if it does you may want to get it sorted.

so to confirm, if the remote key fob opened all the doors it doesn't matter if the physical key fails to lock/unlock the drivers door in term of MOT pass

hi surfing6969 welcome to the forum,
at time of test the front doors have to open form inside+ outside, & rear have to open from outside. If they do there is no problem.

I have a kia Ceed. I can lock and lock all doors + boot using the remote function on the key fob.

However I cannot physically unlock/lock the door if i use the key manually in the drivers door.

would this be an MOT fail or advisory??
