my bad..
The supposed principle that future events are likely to turn out so that they balance any past deviation from a presumed average.

‘the law of averages suggests it is England's turn to beat their neighbours’

Thanks for the comment - good points, you're right; although more detail is recorded and could be presented, we've opted to show just the fairly broad failure categories as stored on the database, to keep the presentation simple.

only thing that could be useful(at least to my mind)would be a realistic breakdown of the figures but that can only happen if the mot system itself at the point we log such items is improved if its the ministry data youre using.as a for instance our perennial friend the ford ka tho its main fail is rot many will come up as seatbelt/suspension defects due to the areas said rot is in,honda could show up as headlamp defects even tho its cos the leccy lamp adjusters are pretty common-you get the idea.

We're 'testing' a new page on the MOT Testing website, which will show a list of MOT failure results for a given make / model / engine type and size / mileage.
Users just need to specify the make/model etc of their vehicle from a few drop down menus, and on clicking the 'submit' button a table is generated showing the failure items associated with that vehicle profile.
The statistics generated are from the actual MOT database from 2020, apart from the percentage column, which is generated in the table itself, from the failure figures.
Here's the website page
Is it useful? What other information would be useful?
